“I listen to Tupac for the realness of his words, which I can relate to. I would love to take my music to the highest level. I sing all types of music but love to sing Soca for its excitement and vigour. I love to make people happy and with Soca you can’t help but to dance and enjoy. I love and appreciate all types of good music which portray love, unity and peace, just positive messages that everyone can relate to. In a few years from now I see myself as a successful singer doing a lot of touring. I am currently working on my new release, out soon."

Kayla is one of the youngest students of Platinum, being only 7 years old. She is learning to play the keyboard, and also shows interest in acting and modelling.

Kayla shows great determination, and will eventually go very far. She already has the appearance of a Star Child.

Kayla has just won a Newspaper Pageant Competition, winning her some great prizes, £2500 plus a modelling contract.

So watch out for Kayla!

Chanel, Born in 1987, has grown up in south-east London her whole life, with a Caribbean background from both parents. She first discovered her passion for music ever since her first music lesson she had at primary school where she was taught basic piano and still at the age of 18 she has managed to maintain that passion that she found with music.

As Chanel has been interested in performance almost her whole life, she has been heavily involved in the likes of dance classes, drama classes and even the church choir, which she believes has built up her confidence for her talent. Though she realized that this was the career path she desired, at the age of 15 she decided to take it even further. She decided to use her time more efficiently, so she often stayed behind after school to record tracks which contributed to her pass in music GCSE.

Soon after she started to take her music even more seriously and decided to do more with the tracks she recorded. So along with a producer and two rap artists she hooked up with some professional camera men to shot a video for one of her tracks called ‘Dreamin’. After the video was complete, the video was sent into a Sky television channel called ‘Channel U’, and soon after it was accepted to be played on their show. The single made it to the channel u charts for a number of weeks, which she is very proud of. Chanel describes this stage in her life as ‘an amazing experience’.

Still trying to pursue her career in music Chanel has regular voice training, performances and works with a lot of other upcoming artists. However, at the same time she has managed to go on to further education at Crossways academy, a sixth-form college based in south-east London, where she studies A-Level Performing Arts, Business, Media and Film Studies. Currently, along with other students, Chanel is organising a talent show, as she says ‘a talent should be shown to everyone, I believe that they are truly gifts from God’.

At the moment she is in the process of making a demo to portray her style and work. She describes her style as being influenced mainly by R’n’B and Jazz. Her main influences as a singer/songwriter are the likes of Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. But still she enjoys various styles of music from soul to pop to Hip Hop etc; she wants her music to cater to all types of audiences and likes to convey a lot of optimistic messages in her lyrics. She enjoys the work of the legendary George and Ira Gershwin, for their diverse style and being ahead of their time.
